Great Basin National Park was our 42nd out of the 58 American National Parks. It was the eleventh of our summer vacation. We would wind-up driving over 4,500 miles to accomplish this task. Additionally, we would achieve tremendous success by hiking to the top of Wheeler Peak’s 13,063-foot summit.
We took a ranger-led tour of Lehman Caves as well as hiked to see the ancient bristlecone pine trees. These hardy and limber trees are 2,000 to 3,000 or more years old. Finally, we hiked to see the Grey Cliffs where a face appeared within the stone. This park has a very special place in our hearts.
