We drove from Death Valley to Kings Canyon visiting Yosemite for a brief time. Our lodging was inside the park at Cedar Grove. When we arrived it was late afternoon and we took a hike in the Zumwalt Meadow as the sun set over the mountains. The next morning we hiked the Hotel Creek Trail uphill to the Cedar Grove Overlook. We ate breakfast with a breathtaking view.
That afternoon we drove through the Monarch Wilderness and Sequoia National Forest to Junction View and back into Kings Canyon. Here we were witness to The General Grant Tree. This giant sequoia is the second largest tree in the world. Finally, we ate a picnic lunch at the Redwood Mountain Overlook.
