Wind cave is one of the longest and complex caves in the world. This cave is located in South Dakota near the Black Hills Forest. We explored the awesome cave formations by ranger led tours. Our favorite tours were the Natural Entrance Cave and Candlelight Cave Tour.
The Candlelight tour was just that. In the early evening the cave was all ours. Just a small group of us held only candles as all the lights we all off in the cave. It was such a unique experience for us. We saw magnificent boxwork formations, sparkling calcite crystals and gypsum. A constant 53 degree temperature inside the cave cooled us down from the summer heat.
