Merry Christmas! This is our Christmas Special – Episode 62.
Every Thanksgiving we purchase and decorate our Christmas tree. It is our family tradition. Bill puts up the lights while Alisa cooks. The eldest puts up the first ornament. Luke and Winston design the winter landscape around the room with whatever we have accumulated over the generations.
This Thanksgiving weekend we traveled to Virginia to visit with some friends. We were planning on hiking in Shenandoah national park. However, because of icy conditions on the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive, the park was closed. Therefore, we decided to hike 13 miles to the summit of Mount Rogers.
Mount Rogers is the highest point in Virginia. We tried to make it to the top a year ago, but it was snowing and was much more difficult then we anticipated. So after hiking 4 miles, we turned around. This year it sunny, but very cold and snow was on the ground. It took us 8 hours to accomplish the adventure!
